2012 Camaro Transformers Special Edition

Chevrolet has released the official images and information on the 2012 Camaro SS Transformers Special Edition, celebrating the world premiere of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, the third movie in the franchise that has strongly contributed to the success of the new Camaro.

The new Transformers Special Edition package can be added to the 2LT and 2SS models for only $3,000. The package starts off with a Rally Yellow exterior paint job to match the ones found on Bumblebee, which are then combined with black rally stripes that stretch over the hood, roof, and decklid. Towards the back of the muscle car, Chevrolet has added a unique high-wing spoiler, Autobot Shield logos on the center caps and front quarter panels, and 20″, black-painted wheels wrapped in high-performance summer tires. Dealers will also offer two additional features: exclusive, 21-inch, black-painted wheels and a black ground-effects package.

The interior of the special edition Camaro gets black leather interior accented with yellow stitching on the instrument panel, center console, armrests, and seats. The Autobot Shield logos find their way inside as well with embroidered versions on the front headrests and center console lid.

That momentum is expected to accelerate early next year with the introduction of the 550-hp (405 kW) 2012 Camaro ZL1, as well as limited-edition models such as the Transformers Special Edition.

Camaro takes center stage in the Transformers series as the character Bumblebee, a Rally Yellow Camaro. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third in the hit Transformers live-action movie series, is in theaters June 29, 2011. In conjunction with the release of the film, Chevrolet announces the 2012 Camaro Transformers Special Edition, which will be available in North America and several other markets around the world, including China, Japan, and parts of Europe, South America and the Middle East

Offered on the top two trim levels — 2LT and 2SS — with the RS Appearance Package, the 2012 Transformers edition only improves upon the already immensely popular 2010 Transformers Special Edition. The 2012 Transformers look starts with a stripe design consistent with the actual Transformers: Dark of the Moon Bumblebee model: Rally Yellow exterior paint with exclusive carbon-fiber weave rally stripes that travel on each side of the hood bulge, upper horizontal front fascia surface, roof, decklid and spoiler. The Autobot® shield is incorporated throughout the design, including on the center caps of the 20″ black-painted wheels2 and embroidered into the headrests.

The 2012 Camaro Transformers Special Edition will be available for order starting June 27, with production slated to begin in mid- to late August. In the tradition of special edition Camaro models, this will be a limited-time offer.
